Gifts

Everyday gifts are supposed to be something that you don't feel bad about getting, or feel like you have to get the person a gift back. The other day someone gave me a bunch of baked goods from a bake sale. It was very nice of the person to do this. She also picks up little gifts for the kids every now and then. This is very nice of her. I know her financial situation though, and she really shouldn't be spending any money on me or the kids. Now I feel like I should give something back to her, but I don't want to buy something just to buy something. I have another friend who used to get me expensive gift cards and gifts for driving her daughter to school or watching her dogs. Then when I have her help me with something, I feel like I have to get something expensive back. ANyway, enough of my complaining about people doing nice things for me.
Things have been going well here. I am about 3-4 weeks away from my due date. Lizzie just finished preschool., She had her graduation on Wed. Buddy has two weeks of school left. I took him to the doctor last week because he had a cough for 3weeks and then came home early from school, becouse he was super tired and his neck hurt. It turns out he had/has strep and mono. I guess with mono, your spleen can be enlarged, so he can't do any contact sports for 2 weeks(when he has a recheck). So he has not been able to do P.E. at school,or recess. Now recess is not necessarily a contack sport, but the chances of him being hit in the stomach are high. Hopefully he will get the okay to participate in recess and Field Day, for his last week of school.
that is all for now. I have been so bad about posting, I don't know if anyone checks this or not.

Short/Long weekend

We have been busy as usual. This past weekend we went to MA. Brian had a friend getting married. He was supposed to go to England for work that weekend, so we didn't think we could make it. His trip got postponed and so we all drove up Thursday evening. It was a great trip over all. On the way there, we had one of our best traveling times ever(11 1/2 hours). On Friday my parents took the kids to Drumlin Farm, while Brian and I slept. Then Brian and I went to Legal Seafood for lunch. We found out on Fridays during Lent, that is were everyone goes. We were lucky and got 2 seats at the bar, so we didn't have to wait, and I didn't have to worry about anyone smoking. Then we went shopping for Red Sox stuff, and anything that caught my eye at the Christmas Tree Shop. Brian was excited to get some Yankees SUCK bumper stickers. They have a different meaning down here, but there are enough people from New York and New Jersey that will get it. We came home and had homemade pizza for dinner, and I was in bed by 9:30. Saturday we slept in and went to Brian's parents for lunch and then bowling. I discovered that I use my middle finger when candlepin bowling and broke a nail. After bowling we went to Erickson's(it was there first day of the season) and I enjoyed some maple walnut icecream(which you can't find down here). Then we got ready for the wedding that was at the Martha Mary Chapel and the reception that was held in the main dining hall of the Wayside Inn. Sunday morning we were on the road by 7am. We made great time coming home. We got home by 7:30, which is great for daytime driving. Tuesday I had a 3hour appointment at the doctors. I failed my first glucose test(for gestational diabetes) by one point. I passed this one. I also found out I could fly to NY when we go to see the Red Sox at Yankee Stadium. Brian will be in England that week, so I would have had to drive up by myself, or had my friends drive up with me, which I am sure they would have rathered not do, but being the great friends that they are they would have. That is about all for now.

BUSY

I have just realized that we have something planned for every weekend from now until at least May 20th. Now one of the weekends is Easter and another is when Brian will be leaving for England for work. I have a ton of outside stuff that I would like to get done, and the majority of it I will need his help for. I have a feeling that by the end of May I am not going to feel like doing much. Things have been going well here. We had a very busy weekend. It started with a girls night out with friends, then Lizzie had a birthday party to go to Friday night. It was a sleepover with 10 kids between the ages of 3 and 10. I did not have her sleepover, I picked her up at 10. Sat. morning I got up to make Irish soda bread and Guiness cake for our St. Patty's day party that we were holding that night. By 11:45 I was out the door with another birthday party Lizzie was invited too. Got home and prepared for the party. The next day I was slow to recover( I have trouble staying up until 3am these days). Then Buddy and Lizzie had a birthday party that evening. This weekend we have just one party on the schedule. That is all for now, just thought I would do a quick update.

Don't expect it again.

Can you believe it, two days in a row that I am posting stuff. Right now I am waiting for people to finish cleaning my house. My Mom and Dad were nice enough to have people come and clean my house once a month for 6 months. Today is the first day, so they do a "deep" cleaning that takes longer than normal. They were suppossed to come at 8:30 and showed up just after 8. I was not prepared for them, I just got back from taking Buddy from school. I don't like when people come early for things that I have to clean for. They were coming to clean the house, but I still had to pick up stuff. When people come early to parties it drives me nuts too. I am not a neat person, I never have been and no matter how many times I try I make resalutions about it, it just doesn't happen. So I need all the time I can get in most cases, to get my house clean. Of course, if you are coming to fix something, come as early as you like and I prefer you not to be late. Anyway, I am feeling crappy today, I have a terrible cold and can't wait to go back to bed. So while I am waiting for them to finish I will ramble here. I know, I have a tough life.
So two shows that I enjoy are House Hunters and Intervention. Intervention can be a really sad show. They normally cover two people that have an addiction. The ones I have seen have been: drugs, alcohol, anorexia, bulimea;and video games. The video game one, was more about a 21year old that had a lot of other issues going on. The people with the addicition think that A&E is doing a documentary on them, in reality there friends and family have set up and intervention and rehab. At the end they tell you how the people are doing now. At first it was really sad, because we only saw one person not relapse. After watching some more, there have been more success rates. It is a really good show, and I recommend it. I really like to look at other peoples homes and how much homes are worth in different areas,so that is a great show. They started off mostly in LA, and that was just crazy. I do not understand how people can afford to live out there. People have to buy the house that day, and pay more than the asking price have the time. This week they are in Florida. This one single lady with two teenage children, had a budget of 1-2 million. That is crazy. The one I watched last night they had a budget of 500,000 and they wanted a 4 bedroom, 3 car garage, big kitchen, pool and yard in the Ft. Meyers area. The real estate lady did not say they were crazy, but you could tell she was thinking it. They show 3 houses that they look at, and the guy could not stop complaing about what was missing. They ended up getting a house with a 3 car garage, that they added a pool too, after they purchased it.
I had a meeting with Buddy's teacher today. It went the same as all meetings about him go. He is doing great academically, but he needs work on his behavior. He contantly needs to be redirected. We are goint to put him in Karate and see if that helps. We have heard that It helps give kids self discipline in school. We shall see. Lizzie has a princess dance party tonight. Her dance studio is holding it. For $15 bucks, she gets and 1hr 1/2 with instructers dressed up as princesses, crafts dancing and I don't know what else. She is looking forward to it. She keeps asking when is she going to get her costume for the recital. Her recital is in May, but I am sure it will be here before I know it. That is all for now. The cleaning people should be just about done, and then I am going to bed.

PIZZA

So the new food that I want to eat is pizza. Unfortunately, we have not found good pizza done here. It may exist, but we have not found it. There was an episode of Entourage were they talked about how there was no good pizza in LA( Johnny Drama, blamed it on the water). I have had Dominos and Pizza Hut and they tasted horrible. I really want some Pizza express pizza(for those of you who know Maynard). I had pizza similar to it at my brothers in Cambridge. Brian's friend is getting married the last weekend in March, so I may have to make the trip, just so I can get some good pizza. Things have been mostly good prego wise. If you want to skip the complaining then go to the next paragraph, or in reality this is not the blog for you. I have had wicked bad heartburn lately. I had heartburn with Buddy and Lizzie and have had it almost all of this pregnancy. Two tell tale signs that I am pregnant, is I get heartburn, and my nose gets stuffed up. So I have heartburn most of the day now. I am also at the stage were I feel like I have to go to the bathroom all the time. I don't have to go all the time I just feel like it. It takes me forever to get to bed. First I take the dogs out(though to be honest, they have started to go to bed before I do), then I feed the cat, lock up and turn off lights downstairs. Then I check on the kids and turn out there reading lights( they read when they go to bed). I then start my routine. I go to the bathroom, get into pjs, brush teeth and then go to the bathroom. Some nights I end up going to the bathroom 3 times before getting into bed. I still feel like I have to go, but know that there is nothing in my bladder. After getting into bed, I get heartburn and try to ignore it and the feeling I have to go to the bathroom until I fall asleep. Lucklily I do not have any other bathroom issues that some pregnant woman get. Knock on wood. Now that I have shared TMI, I will move on to other things.
Things have been going well for the kids. Buddy had a really cute day on Valentines Day. The whole 2nd grade dressed up as knights or princesses(or in nice clothes), and paraded around the school. Then Buddy's class and anther class had ballroom dancing. Buddy looked so cute dancing with his partner. They then had pictures taking in front of a mural of a castle, followed by fairy tale themed snacks. He was sick last week with a bad cold and sore throat(which I have this week). Lizzie is doing well. She loves going to school and dance. At dance last week someone stepped on her hand while wearing her tap shoes. She had some good marks on her hand, so she wanted to leave early. It worked out great for me, because I didn;t feel lilke going that night. This Sat. Buddy makes his First Reconciliation. He makes his First Communion in May. Brian is out of town this week. He is in Minneapolis, were they are getting snow from today until Saturday. Hopefully he can still fly out on Friday, we will see though. I have more to write but that is all I feel like writing today.

Outback

So, I am not really craving too many things, but I do dislike many foods that I would normally like. Last weekend me and the family went to Outback for dinner(we had a gift card). I enjoy Outback, but the food is a little pricey. We went around 5pm. It was not too crowded and we had no wait. When we left, it was crowded, the lobby was full 0f people waiting, and that was around 6ish. I do not understand why people will wait and hour or more for Outback, especially when there tons of resteraunts in the area. Anyway, I felt like having ribs. Ribs are not something I normally order, I don't think I have ever ordered them. I enjoy them when someone else makes them, but I just tend not to eat them to often. So my ribs come and they did not hit the spot. I managed to eat 2, and then I was done. Then last night, we had Chinese and I got spareribs from there, did not like them. So I am giving up on ribs for the time being. On Saturday night, we got a babysitter and went out with friends to eat dinner and see Ron White. We went to a Italian place to eat which was really good. I am not eating as much as normally do( very weird, since when you are pregnant people tend to eat more). The show was good. Friend got us the tickets as a Christmas present. The crowd was crappy, but he is not a comedian that caters to the high class crowd. Brian and I do not listen to him much, so all the material was new to us, which was great. I don't want to talk about Sunday. During the day we went to a birthday party for neighber. The kids had a great time. Then we came home and watched football. Can I just say, how hard is it to catch a football that is thrown directly to you, you are looking at it, and were expecting it to be thrown at you? The silver lining is that now I do not need to watch the football part of the Superbowl, so while they are playing football, I can take my bathroom, food and drink breaks, and catch the commercials. We are going to a friends house for Superbowl weekend. Every year we have a mini Navy reunion for Superbowl. Brian's(and mine) friends from the navy are spread out across the country, although most are on the East of the Mississipi. Each year we get together at someones house, and whoever can make it does. We normally try to get together at least twice a year. This year we are bringing the kids.
Yesterday, I discovered that shopping when pregnant, is like shopping when you are hungry. I was not hungry at all. I went in for milk. I decided to get more Raisen Bran, since that is what I normally eat for breakfast. I came out of the cereal aisle, with the biggest box of Cinnamon Toast Crunch( they now make a big box of it), and Lucky Charms(I did get Raisen Bran). I contemplated getting Fruity Pebbles, but I used will power. I also got frozen corn on the cob. I am not craving it, but it is one of the few foods I actually enjoy eating.
